Introducing Aquatica – a whimsical, one-of-a-kind water park that’s only in
Orlando and could only come from SeaWorld. Where one river floats you through an
undersea world of colorful fish and another races you into rolling rapids.
Slides that spin and soak you, and our incredible signature ride – two awesome,
enclosed tube slides that send you speeding through a lively lagoon filled with
playful Commerson’s dolphins. Delight in the serene-to-extreme waters in the
gigantic double wave pools and soak in the sun (or the cooling shade) on the
white sand beach. Aquatica is where the fun is as endless as the sea itself."The way it's designed, it takes our guests from the serene
to the extreme," said Joseph A. Couceiro, national vice president of marketing
for Busch Entertainment Corp., SeaWorld's parent company.
SeaWorld's new Aquatica water park features 36 water slides and a high-speed
river ride with rapids aimed at competing with other thrill-ride theme parks.
The park, which opened 1st March 2008 across International Drive from SeaWorld, also
haswill have an 80,000-square-foot, highly designed beach area, several calm
lagoons and plenty of animals. The highlight will be black-and-white Commerson's
dolphins splashing about in the main lagoon.
"Aquatica is a water park you would never expect, unless it was built by
SeaWorld," said Jim Atchison, general manager of SeaWorld Orlando.
Aquatica iswill be themed mostly for South Pacific islands, though there are
mixed motifs from Central and South America.
The signature ride is a slide that takes people underwater in clear tubes,
where they can zoom past dolphins and other marine life. The dolphins and other
animals also may be seen from an observation deck, an underwater viewing window
and on a lazy river tube ride that takes guests under the marine life tank.
