1st Thursdays at Orlando Museum of Art prove that museums don’t have to be
stuffy.
Thursdays can be a carnival at the Orlando Museum of Art (OMA). In one room,
a live band plays to a packed dance floor. In the lobby, museumgoers linger
around a catered spread. Artists and patrons alike boogie down next to local
art. The event known as 1st Thursdays features a different theme every month.
The museum recruits area artists to provide all of the artwork, including
performance art and music
The OMA Associates host 1st Thursdays events the first Thursday of every month
from 6-9pm. The OMA’s atmosphere changes each month for 1st Thursdays with
themed exhibitions by local artists. Guests party to live music by popular local
bands or DJs. A cash bar and refreshments are available. Admission includes free
access to the OMA’s galleries. This is one of the most affordable and
entertaining nights that you'll find in Orlando.
After checking out the evening's exhibit and sampling some snacks, tour the rest
of the OMA:
