Disney Fishing Excursions
In the late 1960’s Walt Disney World planners released 70,000 bass fingerlings into Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon. Fishing in these waters was not permitted until 1977, which allowed ample time for the bass to grow and breed undisturbed. Today the fishing in these waters is spectacular and has caught the attention of the sport-fishing world. All fishing excursions are led by expert bass guides aboard pontoon boats that are fully stocked with rods, reels, fishing gear and refreshments. The two hour guided tours are available daily with an advance reservation

Orlando Area Fishing Guides
If you’d like to do some real fishing, it is worth hiring a guide. Most of the Orlando area fishing guides specialize in bass fishing. A guide has local knowledge, may be your only means of access to private lakes, and will provide tackle and bait. You will also need a Florida State fishing license, which you can buy at WalMart or your guide will help you obtain one

The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes
The Kissimmee Chain consists of Lake Toho, East Lake Toho, Lake Cypress, Lake Hatchineha, Lake Kissimmee, and the canals that connect them. Other lakes connected by natural creeks are Lakes Tiger, Marion, Jackson, Rosalie, and Walk-in-the-Water. Water from Reedy creek north of the town of Kissimmee eventually winds up in Lake Okeechobee on it's way to the Everglades.

Butler Chain of Lakes
The Butler Chain is located west of Orlando. Johns Lake is at the Orange and Lake county line and provides wonderful fishing. The Winter Park Chain in Winter Park and Maitland is known for its sightseeing opportunities. Anglers using this chain can enjoy good fishing and enjoy the same sights as tourists. Several downtown lakes are large enough to accommodate boating and have public boat ramps. Clear Lake provides fishing opportunities for bass, bream and catfish. Lake Ivanhoe fishing can be surprisingly good for an urban lake. Lake Underhill is on the eastern side of Orlando and is divided by the East-West Expressway. This is a good lake to fish for crappie in the winter and bass in the spring. A healthy catfish population offers additional fishing opportunities.

Harris Chain of Lakes
The Harris Chain, lies in central Lake County. Natural creeks, canals and locks interconnect the individual lakes. Boaters can launch in any of the lakes and make their way downstream into the Ocklawaha River to fish for bass, bream and crappie.

Lake County has more than 1,000 named lakes. The Clermont Chain of Lakes is located in southern Lake County. This chain is a popular fishing area and the large, undeveloped marsh provides excellent wildlife viewing.

The Lake Holly Chain is located on Highway 450 just north of Umatilla. Bass and crappie anglers use the lake seasonally and weekend usage is the highest. The Ocklawaha River rises from the Harris Chain of Lakes in Lake County, flows north through Marion County and eventually discharges into the St. Johns River near Welaka. The river is heavily used by pleasure boaters, sightseers and anglers. The bass fishing in the Ocklawaha is generally good, and it is an excellent place to fish for redbreast sunfish and spotted sunfish.

Lake Weir is a 5,685-acre lake that is one of the most popular recreation areas in Marion County. Anglers fishing for bass, black crappie, bluegill and redear sunfish are usually successful. Lake Kerr is in north Marion County near the town of Salt Springs. It is surrounded by the Ocala National Forest and is less urbanized than Lake Weir. The lake has a reputation for producing lunker bass, bluegill and redear sunfish, assuring great seasonal angling opportunities.
